One slap, then all of Hollywood needs psychotherapy

A bit of a slap in the face in the face of Chris Rock, and then the entire entertainment industry has been behaving as if someone had committed a ritual murder on stage during the Oscars for nearly two weeks.

The fact is – Will Smith’s action was stupid, unnecessary, exaggerated and frankly macho – it is this bright moment of invaluable force response, which modern culture likes to call toxic masculinity.

But if Smith goes too far in his reaction to Chris Rock’s joke, Hollywood’s massive reaction to this nasty incident goes beyond any adequacy.

After the initial shock during the ceremony itself, during which there were quite mixed reactions – both for the comment made by Chris Rock and for the slap he received after that, it was time for moral synchronization.

For days, celebrities and “celebrities” have been reacting in the media, explaining how disgusted they are with Will Smith’s decadent behavior, how mentally traumatized they are by this scene, and how the actor must be punished in some way.

As if against the background of all the violence that Hollywood has seen, of all the crap going on in the world, this one fist was the last straw that broke the psyche of all these stars.

“Take his Oscar!”, Some are calling for, while others want Hollywood to ban itself from working with the actor, as punishment for his unrestrained behavior, which has affected so many people so degradingly.

Eventually, Smith voluntarily resigned from the Academy Award-winning American Film Academy, and now he has probably covered himself in anticipation of the storm.

Because in practice we are witnessing just that – a media storm in which, with the help of social media, various people are trying to express “correct” opinion, to stigmatize and show how good and thinking people are.

However, such a clear signal of morality and righteousness alludes to one thing – infantilism.

In modern American liberalism, which has taken over the entertainment industry, such a thing is not uncommon. It goes hand in hand with elevating the victim to the role of hero, with an over-focus on personal feelings at the expense of everything else.

If to some extent such an attitude is important in terms of understanding how our own behavior affects others, then on such a huge scale it leads to grotesque. Or as we would say here – to the salting of the pot.

Hollywood is simply too obsessed with its own nonsense and its own importance, that such dramatization is seen as breaking news that everyone should pay attention to and that everyone should comment on.

Joe Rogan ruined Will Smith: Stupid act of an emotionally fragile hypocrite

The search for justice for the unjust makes sense in one way or another, because as human beings we are created to seek justice (as we see and understand it). However, when this becomes almost a fashion trend, in which people demonstratively take social positions, just to look cool … it’s an ugly pose.

And the problem is that this has taken shape as the dominant culture in Hollywood (and not only).

If we go back to the case of Will Smith, yes, he really deserves some reprimand for his stupid act. Violence is not an acceptable solution to conflict or problems.

But to turn this whole thing into a dramatic spectacle of roaring, tearing hair, and throwing stones and guano (figuratively speaking) is even more ridiculous, silly, and toxic than Smith’s act itself.

With so many wars in the world, not just the one in Ukraine, such a manic focus on a single slap in the face to Oscars is outright nonsense.

If Ricky Gervais was leading the Oscars this year ... And why has he never led the ceremony before?
