A global publishing phenomenon, the manga One Piece (Glénat) is enriched with a 105th volume, scheduled for release this Saturday, September 30. But fans of the straw hat pirate will be able to discover this new volume translated into French from Friday September 29, at the BD Flash bookstore dedicated to manga, in the city center of Chartres.

A special evening around the original work of Eiichiro Oda is organized, as Benjamin Desveaux, store manager, explains:
“We are offering this preview sale of the 105th volume, this Friday from 9 p.m., the day before the official release. To mark the occasion, we are organizing an evening from 7 p.m. To purchase this volume 105, a cover with three large plates of the manga, including one in color, will be offered, while stocks last.”
Youtuber on site, games, costumes…
For this evening, different activities will be put in place: “We will offer quizzes and games to allow customers to win Berrys, the currency in One Piece. We will also have an exhibition of manga pages in the store. A friend Specialized YouTuber, Sofian the Geek, who has a large community, will come and do a live broadcast from the bookstore. Finally, this evening is also an opportunity to present the release of Sanji’s Food Wars, a spin-off of the Food Wars manga with Sanji, crew cook in One Piece.”

This “One Piece night” is intended to be fun, confides the bookseller: “We also asked our regulars to come in costume to add a little life and atmosphere. It’s the first time we’ve organized an event like this, one year after the opening of our store dedicated specifically to manga.”
Reference manga
Fans are expected in large numbers: “We don’t really know what to expect in terms of attendance. We hope to have a lot of people, for the moment, I have a good forty reservations.”
Over the years, One Piece has become the most popular manga in the world. A trend that is only growing, as Benjamin Desveaux explains:
“This saga has existed for more than twenty years. I experienced it as a young beginning bookseller. What is phenomenal is that One Piece always attracts a new readership. There are new fans every day. That speaks to all generations. The anime and the Netflix series, which has just been released and which is well done, have once again given a new dimension. It is truly the reference manga, with very strong iconography.”
