SANTO DOMINGO.-The Dominican Society of Oncological Radiotherapy (SDRO) his II International Multidisciplinary Oncology Congress, in virtual mode.
This event, held by the partnership with the international organization InterOncology Education & Prevention, brought together specialists involved in the management of cancer patients such as medical physicists, radiation oncologists, oncologists, radiation therapists, imaging specialists, and neurosurgeons.
This scientific event had the participation of national and international speakers, who represented countries such as Mexico, Argentina, Panama, Italy and Uruguay.
The words of welcome to the event were in charge of doctors Mirvia Abreu and Lourdes Marmolejos, presidents of the congress.
From a pioneering and multidisciplinary approach, professionals shared their knowledge about cancer prostate, breast, pancreas, lung, esophagus, thyroid, lymphomas, among others.
In addition, conferences were presented on palliative care in cancer patients, new drugs in immunotherapy, nutritional management of patients with head and neck cancer, hypofractionation, radiotherapy in lymphomas, and Stereotactic Radiosurgery in spinal lesions.
The academic program had thematic blocks on types of cancer and advances in their approach. In the immunotherapy, neurosurgery, gastrointestinal, head and neck, lymphoma and mixed modules, the specialists shared their knowledge and experience, highlighting the importance of the patient receiving a multidisciplinary treatment.
The event was held on December 4 and 5.
