The Manchester United manager was clear in his speech when English media confronted him that Marcus Rashford, 22, has not scored after the comeback.
– I think he looked sharp. Against Sheffield United, he missed a couple of chances, but we focus on the goals he created. He is on his way to his best season in United, says Solskjær at Monday’s press conference.
For Marcus Rashford, the football break came a little convenient. A back injury put the Englishman out of play for months, but when the Premier League rolled back, Rashford was included in the London start.
In the meantime, he has also received much attention for his settlement with the authorities.
There was no scoring against Tottenham, nor against Sheffield United at Old Trafford or in the FA Cup jump against Norwich.
However, the interaction with Anthony Martial seems to sit well. Twice, the Frenchman was served by the rowdy in the previous league match.
“I’m looking forward to him getting more minutes, and he will definitely score soon,” says Solskjær, who could cheer this weekend:
At the press conference, the Norwegian also confirmed that young boy Angel Gomes will leave the club after all the sun marks.
The 19-year-old’s contract expires on Tuesday.
– I didn’t hear anything last night or this morning. It seems that they have not been able to reach a consensus, so then the answer is probably “yes”, says Solskjær when asked if he has finished at United.
Manchester United have now gone 14 games without losing in all tournaments. The club is thus in the fight for the top four for the full, and also ready for the semi-finals of the FA Cup, with Chelsea waiting.
