On the Cengkareng Toll Road, Trucks Rolled Over and Cows Escaped Due to This Cause

Jakarta

Cattle loading truck had an accident at the toll gate (GT) Cengkareng 2 towards Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang City. Accident happened due to failed truck brakes.

Marketing and Communication Department Head Regional Metropolitan Jasa Marga, Panji Satriya, said that initially the truck was traveling from Kapuk to Cengkareng. While at GT Cengkareng 2, according to the driver, his truck had failed brakes.

“The livestock truck was moving from Kapuk to Cengkareng, upon arrival at the Cengkareng 2 Toll Gate, according to the driver’s statement, the truck’s brakes failed and could not be controlled,” Panji said when confirmed, Friday (17/3/2023).

After that, trucks hit the guardrail or bullnose until the truck overturns. Livestock in the form of cows brought by the truck immediately scattered out.

“(The truck) crashed bullnose (the protective wall of the substation), as a result the vehicle overturned on its side with the position of the right wheel being above and livestock scattering out,” he said.

Panji revealed that 6 cows from the truck escaped. However, the cow was immediately secured by officers in the field.

“The info was 6 cows. However (the cows) were immediately secured by officers in the field,” he said.

Panji said there were no fatalities or injuries in this accident. The truck driver is also in good condition.

“In addition, there were no casualties or injuries. Yes (the driver is in good condition),” he concluded.

1 Free Cow Slaughtered

Meanwhile, 1 cow that was affected by the accident was found to have run away and ran 3.8 km and ended up at Soewarna Commercial Park, Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The cow was slaughtered because it was difficult to evacuate.

“Because it is difficult to evacuate with tools, instead of this cow doing an additional movement, call the management, yes it will be slaughtered,” said Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Traffic Unit Kompol Bambang Askar Sodiq when contacted, Friday (17/3/2023).

Bambang said the cow was slaughtered at 11.00 WIB in the ditch where he had ‘bathed’ before. Slaughter is carried out by agreement of the owner.

The cow was eventually slaughtered to facilitate evacuation. This is because the cow will eventually be slaughtered at the slaughterhouse.

“There is an agreement. We will call the management, he can’t, he can’t afford it, so we’ve just cut it off instead of new problems and we don’t want new problems to arise,” he said.

“In the end, the cows will also be slaughtered. These cows will be slaughtered at the slaughterhouse,” he added.
