On Rai3, in prime time, Carmen, Traviata and Nabucco from the Verona Arena – Connected to the Opera

Three opera masterpieces by Georges Bizet and Giuseppe Verdi, the unique atmosphere of the Verona Arena and the extraordinary participation of Luca Zingaretti which highlights some key moments of the works by accompanying viewers inside the works: it is “The Great Opera at the Verona Arena”with three appointments – Carmen, The Traviata e Nabuccothat Rai Cultura proposes on Thursday 21, 28 July e August 4th at 21.20 on Rai 3. The first two titles, Carmen by Bizet e The Traviata Verdi’s direction and sets by Franco Zeffirelli have in common and were – respectively – the first and last opera staged at the Arena by the great director, whose 100th anniversary will occur in 2023.

In Carmen by Bizet (21 July), starring the voices of Clémentine Margaine in the title role, Gilda Fiume (Micaela), Brian Jadge (Don Josè) and Luca Micheletti (Escamillo). On the podium of Orchestra, Chorus, Ball of the Arena di Verona Foundation there is Marco Armiliato and the choir master is Ulisse Trabacchin. The A.LI.VE. is directed by Paolo Facincani. With the extraordinary participation of the Compañia Antonio Gades, artistic director Stella Arauzo.

The Traviata Verdi’s, broadcast on July 28, stars Nina Minasyan (Violetta Valéry), Vittorio Grigolo (Alfredo Germont) and Vladimir Stoyanov (Giorgio Germont). On the podium, again Marco Armiliato, with Ulysses Trabacchin choir master.

It closes on August 4th with Nabucco, in the staging of the director Arnaud Bernard who also signs the costumes and “brings” Verdi’s opera back to the height of our Risorgimento. Among the performers, Sebastian Catana (Nabucco), Ewa Płonka (Abigaille), Francesca Di Sauro (Fenena) and Abramo Rosalen (Zaccaria), Samuele Simoncini (Ismaele). On the podium of the Orchestra and Chorus of the Arena di Verona Foundation, Daniel Oren, Choir Master, Ulisse Trabacchin. The television direction is by Fabrizio Guttuso Alaimo.
