On Monday, a meeting of the Civil Protection Commission was convened in Daugavpils in connection with Covid-19 – in Latvia – News

“Representatives of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC) will also take part in the meeting, discuss the first results of mass testing and decide what measures are still needed to control Covid-19,” said Prelatov.

He added that the council does not yet have information on testing activity, as it has only recently begun.

It has already been reported that 14 new Covid-19 patients were registered in Daugavpils on Friday, and a total of 113 Daugavpils patients are currently diagnosed with Covid-19.

On Saturday, saliva tests for Covid-19 were started at three locations in Daugavpils.

Delivery is provided by “E. Gulbja Laboratory” at 94a Smilšu Street, 37a Saules Street and 11a Raipoles Street. Laboratory specialists will provide information on how to proceed, how to pass the test, where to deliver it, and how to receive a response.

It is planned to supply 10,000 Covid-19 saliva tests to Daugavpils. The SPCC develops recommendations for which categories of the population it would be desirable to perform tests.

As reported, from Monday to Wednesday, residents of Kuldiga could voluntarily take free Covid-19 saliva tests, while today saliva tests will be available in Daugavpils. It is expected that this will significantly increase the volume of testing and further assess the development of the situation.

Due to the spread of Covid-19, restrictions have been introduced in Kuldiga and Daugavpils until mid-October, including no more than 500 people at a time in indoor events, but no more than eight visitors can be at one table in public catering places, the Cabinet decided at an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday.
