ON-LINE: The House is extraordinarily negotiating elections and distance learning

9:07 – The Pirates meeting continues. Like the People’s Party, they are proposing that the situation in Belarus be discussed in the Chamber on Wednesday.

8:49 – SPD chairman Tomio Okamura proposed freezing politicians’ salaries. “I hope that the citizens will not be fooled and I hope that our proposal will be supported by the other parties,” he told a press conference. The Pirates also proposed a freeze on salaries last week. The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Jana Maláčová (ČSSD) wants a reduction.

8:28 – Meetings of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sports are also taking place in the Chamber of Deputies. According to Valachová, its members are talking about several amendments. One of them is that Plag’s proposal be limited in time, to only one school year.

8:06 – The CSSD briefing follows. The party’s representatives praised the procedure of the Minister of the Interior, Jan Hamáček (ČSSD), who had previously found a consensus with the representatives of political parties on the method of quarantine elections.

On the other hand, Kateřina Valachová, a member of the Social Democrats, criticized the Minister of Education, Robert Plaga (ANO), in this regard. “The political debate did not take place and there is no information even among parents in the sense of what will happen from September 1,” said Valachová.

7:45 – The day started with a KDU-ČSL briefing. They suggest that the situation in Belarus be discussed in the House. They want to call on the government to prepare targeted sanctions and a supportive policy towards the persecuted.

Dear readers, welcome to the online report.

Both proposals were adopted by the government on Monday. In the case of the law, which concerns quarantine voting, the proposed options have already been agreed by the Minister of the Interior, Jan Hamáček (CSSD), with the parliamentary parties. It can therefore be assumed that the approval in the House will be smooth.

The amendment to the Education Act then introduces the obligation for children to participate in distance learning as part of compulsory school attendance. It does not stipulate the form of distance learning, the school has to adapt it to the conditions of the pupil.

From 7:40 a.m. there will be press briefings of individual clubs, at 11 a.m. the meeting of the lower house will begin.

Both laws will be approved by deputies in a state of legislative emergency. On Monday, at the suggestion of the government, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Radek Vondráček (YES), announced it.
