At 77, Sylvie Vartan has enjoyed her life like never before. The singer was born in Bulgaria, but living conditions were difficult, so the family moved to settle in Paris in the 1950s. Her brother Eddie Vartan became a great composer and conductor. It is thanks to him that she will meet producers. The singer does not start small, but immediately on the stage of the Olympia, in 1961. It is the beginning of her long career. Indeed, she will produce more than 60 albums in France and abroad.

In his private life, there have been ups and downs. Indeed, she formed the most admired couple of the yéyé era with Johnny Hallyday. In 1966, she gave birth to their son, David Hallyday. Then she suffered two road accidents. The first in 1968 when a truck hit it in the Yvelines. David’s godmother was also in the car and dies. The second arrives two years later, in 1970. This time, it is not she who is driving, but Johnny Hallyday who loses control of his vehicle. Sylvie Vartan is very seriously injured and has to undergo many surgeries to find her true face. After her divorce from the Taulier in 1980, she remarried Tony Scotti in 1984. Together, the couple adopted Darina, a little girl of Bulgarian origin born in 1997.

A flight that almost turned tragic for Sylvie Vartan
With all her travels, there are also misadventures, including one in particular that she will never forget: “In the 1970s, I was going to New York to meet Bob Fosse, when one of the plane’s engines exploded in mid-flight. The plane must have jettisoned all the kerosene: there was dead silence in the plane. Nobody moved anymore. The plane began to descend seriously. We saw ourselves condemned, when suddenly the pilot was kind enough to give a sign of life by explaining the situation »she remembers.
An hour of anguish before the plane lands
“The plane was forced to circle above London, while it was shedding kerosene which stuck to the windows. It was terrible… Finally, after an hour of anguish, we landed in London, but I no longer wanted to go to New York, especially since I had my dog with me, and according to the English authorities who reclassified on another flight, he was not allowed to put a paw on English soil”explained Sylvie Vartan.
