OM overthrow Angers with a hat-trick from Milik

OM and Arkadiusz Milik responded to criticism. The Marseillais, beaten Tuesday in Lyon, spectacularly beat Angers 5-2 at the Vélodrome stadium, Friday evening during the 23rd day of Ligue 1. The affair had however started badly for the Phocaeans, led 2-0 after barely 11 minutes. But Jorge Sampaoli’s men then reacted spectacularly, equalizing in three minutes in the first half before performing a festival after returning from the locker room.

The man of this “remontada” was undoubtedly Arkadiusz Milik, the Polish striker who had lost his place in recent weeks. But the former Napoli player agreed with his coach, who decided to restart him against Angers, by signing a formidable hat-trick. With this stunning victory, OM provisionally regain second place in Nice, with a one-point lead.

A crazy start to the game

In a Velodrome stadium without a gauge for the first time in 2022, it was the Angevins who stood out first. Angelo Fulgini first stole the ball from Gerson’s feet, before delivering a perfect cross shot into the side netting of Pau Lopez (8th). In the aftermath, Nabil Bentaleb’s shot was blocked by Boubacar Kamara, taking the Olympian goalkeeper (11th) the wrong way.

But it only took a few minutes for the Marseillais to return. Milik first converted a pass from Mattéo Guendouzi with a superb dive over Danijel Petkovic (18th), the SCO goalkeeper, before Gerson was forgiven for his error on the opener by scoring with a strike at perfect ground level of 25 meters (21st). But the best was yet to come for OM.

Milik recovers completely

For OM, and especially for Milik. So little used in recent weeks, the Polish striker has definitely turned the game around by scoring a new goal with a header following a completely failed exit from Petkovic (70th). Not satisfied, Milik then took advantage of a center love from Cengiz Under, which came into play shortly before, to tackle the ball in the six meters to sign a superb hat-trick.

Decisive passer, Under turned into a scorer to close the mark with a superb volley from the inside of the foot. An almost perfect evening for OM… and for Milik.
