Olympism: A History of the World Exhibition in Paris 2024 – Tickets, Dates, and More!

The year 2024 marks the hosting in France of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, a first in 100 years for the Summer Games. The Palais de la Porte Dorée is taking advantage of this emblematic event to tell, through an exhibition, the Olympic saga through the crises, struggles, exploits and major battles that have shaped our contemporary world.

From April 26 to September 8, 2024the exhibition Olympism, a history of the world traces 130 years of geopolitical, political, social and cultural developments since the creation of the modern Olympic Games through the exploits of the greatest champions and
Olympic champions.

Sports retrospective

The exhibition retraces the 33 Olympics organized from 1896 in Athens to 2024 Paris, including those canceled in 1916, 1940 and 1944. With nearly 600 works, documents, archive films, objects, press articles and photographs, the exhibition brings together historical events, sporting figures and great witnesses of history.

The visitor is invited to delve into the history of struggles for fundamental freedoms. Democracy, racial and gender equality, inclusiveness and eco-responsibility are at the heart of the journey. The exhibition also presents another history of immigration and “minorities”, from the participation of colonial populations in the Games to the highlighting of immigrants as emblematic figures of success in many countries thanks to their sporting success.

Through its programming and mediation workshops, the public is invited to question and imagine the future of games: integration of new sports, redefinition of athlete categories, new eco-responsible infrastructures… A varied program around the exhibition will be proposed: performances, shows, meetings, conferences as well as a major international conference on Tuesday June 11, 2024.
