Ollongren: Police are investigating tracking devices in Russian car

Police are investigating the discovery of electronic tracking devices in the car of a Russian diplomat. This is what Minister Ollongren of the Interior says, who does not want to respond to the matter because of the police investigation.

Yesterday the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned an envoy from the Netherlands because of the find. The department said that the installation of espionage equipment does not benefit the already complex relationship with the Netherlands.

Minister Ollongren says that we have “a history with Russia” because of the MH17 disaster. “I think this always plays a role in the relationship we have with Russia”.

Two years ago, the Dutch intelligence service MIVD announced that the Russian secret service wanted to carry out a hack attack on the office of the OPCW, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague.
