Olivia and Anna Gimeno disappeared on Tenerife

Since the end of April, sisters Olivia (6) and Anna Gimeno Zimmermann (1) have been missing. They disappeared the same day as their father, Tomás Gimeno.

On Thursday 10 June, Spanish exploration crews made a gruesome discovery on the seabed off Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands. The police traced Olivia’s dead body at a depth of 1000 meters, a short distance from the holiday island. Her body was found in a bag on the seabed, next to another bag, which was empty.

Now the children’s mother, Beatriz Zimmermann, opens up about the tragic event.

Mora with touching message

Zimmermann shared Sunday a touching post on Instagram, just a few days after the 6-year-old was found on the ocean floor.

– Children are our responsibility. As a mother, it hurts me that I could not save their lives. I wish I was with them, hand in hand, and that we died together, she begins.

She further writes:

– Anna and Olivia were full of love. Every day I said I loved them. “I have a problem,” I used to say to Olivia. Then she replied smiling: “Yes, mom, I know you love me too much.”

Mora hopes the daughters’ deaths can be a wake-up call for other parents.

– Even though we now feel hatred, hopelessness and pain, I hope that Anna and Olivia’s death is not in vain, but rather leads to increasing love and protection of children. I hope that this event can make other parents look at their children differently and appreciate the daily moments to a greater extent.

The father: – You will never see them again

The two sisters were last seen on April 27 when they visited their father, who was no longer in a relationship with the children’s mother. The parents must have had an informal agreement on the care of the children. But when the girls did not come home as agreed, the mother became worried.

In a conversation that night, Gimeno reportedly told Zimmermann that she would never see her daughters again. according to the Spanish edition of the BBC.

– Tomás wanted me to look for them in suffering. That was the reason why he left me alive, my mother writes in the Instagram post.

Hunting the children’s father

The same evening that the girls visited Gimeno, he was observed at a port on Tenerife, where he is said to have had both a boat and a berth.

Surveillance material shows that he walked back and forth between the car and the boat with several objects, including two bags, before he went to sea. The next day, the boat in question was found drifting on the sea, writes the Spanish major newspaper The country.

Police suspect that the sisters were abducted by their own father, and have been hunting intensely for the father since the day of the disappearance. They are still looking for Gimeno and the 1-year-old.
