Two people had to be rescued this Sunday by emergency services after being dragged by the force of the water when they were driving a canoe near the beach of As Margaridas, in the A Coruña town of Oleiros.

The 112 Galicia learned of the event shortly before 5:00 p.m., when he received a call from a private person who warned that his son had gone out for a walk with his girlfriend in a canoe and that He was unable to see either of the two occupants of the boat.

Thus, the Integrated Center for Emergency Assistance (CIAE) alerted Salvamento Marítimo, which sent the Pesca I helicopter to the site. A rapid intervention boat also traveled to the area.

In addition, the CIAE requested the collaboration of the Galician Gardacostas Service, the health services, the Civil Guard, the Local Police and the members of the Civil Protection of the town.

Fortunately, the young man was able to reach land on his own and confirmed that, being carried away by the current, they abandoned the canoe to try to swim to the beach. The young woman was rescued by the Maritime Rescue boat and transferred to the Oza pier.
