Old, human bone remains found under the Frisian home driveway

During bone work in Ferwert in Friesland, human bone remains were found under a driveway of a house. According to the police, these are bone remains that date from at least a hundred years ago.

Together with an archaeologist from the Netherlands Forensic Institute, the police investigated the remains to determine how long they have been there. “They were able to conclude fairly quickly that it concerns bone remains from the early 20th century or before,” said a spokesman on NPO Radio 1.

The police are no longer investigating. The remains are removed and transferred to an archaeological organization for further investigation. “We have to wait and see what will come out of that research.”

The bone remains were found by the residents of the house. There are no indications that the driveway has been out in recent years, reports Omrop Fryslân.
