Olcay tells about the time a greengrocer asked her how her partner Ruud was doing after he was diagnosed with cancer. She cried very hard in response. ‘And that I could see at the head of that poor greengrocer that he immediately regretted bringing it up in the first place. And I’m not even talking about how quiet the line behind me got. So uncomfortable.’ The time when she sat crying in front of Ruud’s surgeon and couldn’t stop is not unmentioned either.
Olcay herself sometimes wonders if there is something ‘wrong’ with her, now that she regularly ends up crying. So she decides to call a friend.

She asks her friend if she is ‘still cool’. ‘On the other hand, I hear Sanne laughing and once she has stopped, she says: ‘No Olcay, you are certainly no longer cool, but you are much nicer and a lot more recognizable to other women than before. You have problems that others have too. So you’re just human too? With emotions and empathy. Things get to you and you let the emotions in instead of being the tough chick.’
In fact, Olcay already regretted the call after she asked her first question. “I’m a crybaby. damn. Tears well up in my eyes again.’
