The SPD parliamentary group in Offenbach criticizes the coalition and advocates keeping the circus on the previous site.
After the announcement by the Offenbach coalition that it would help the Circus Barus to find alternative accommodation, the SPD parliamentary group in the city parliament demands action from the responsible department heads. “We are pleased that the problems of the circus in Bürgel have now reached the Tanzania coalition,” said a message from city councilors Yasmin Mahlow-Vollmuth and Andre Veit. Writing press releases does not help the Frank family. The coalition has “totally overslept” the urgency so far, which does not exactly simplify the search for a quarter.
Simply providing the circus with a meadow is not enough; the family also needs water connections and a stable foundation for their accommodation. According to the SPD, the circus should be allowed to stay on the previous site, where it is supported by the surrounding population, among other things, through food donations. The Frank family offered to move the circus tent and, if necessary, the stables, in order to make the necessary canal work possible.
In mid-March, the city administration had already sent Circus Barus an eviction notice at the beginning of the corona pandemic, but withdrew it. In October, the circus thanked the Offenbach population with free performances.
