Népszava: the university foundation led by Mihály Varga will receive 150 billion in assets

According to all indications, the Fidesz government will continue to build the parallel state, so it will be able to assume strategic positions even in the event of a change of government. At least that’s what the People’s Word reveals from Article, according to which the Mihály Varga The Rudolf Kálmán Foundation, headed by the Minister of Finance – the maintainer of the University of Óbuda – will receive HUF 150 billion in assets.

It was announced in September that the University of Óbuda and the state-owned Széchenyi Alapok Vockázati Tőkealapkezelő Zrt. Had signed a cooperation agreement. It belongs to the Rudolf Kálmán Foundation under the supervision of the President. In the statement on the agreement, Minister of Finance Varga, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, stated, among other things, that “the cooperation between the University of Óbuda and the Széchenyi Funds will strengthen the university’s involvement in the day-to-day operation of the economy.”

At the same time, Népszava notes, they forgot to announce that about HUF 150 billion in assets could go to the foundation maintaining the university, and Széchenyi Alapok Kockázati Tőkealapkezelő Zrt. Could also belong to the foundation maintaining the university.

This is reflected in the mosaic of the various draft laws that have come to light in recent days:

Currently, the bill on the “amendment of certain laws concerning training and employment” is before the parliament, a hidden point of which reveals that the Rudolf Kálmán Foundation will receive three investment certificates from the state as part of a free asset transfer. The decree of only one minister of state property, Andrea Mager, last Friday reveals that the value of the three investment units is HUF 150 billion. These are the units of the Private Economic Development Fund, the owner of which is currently transferred to the university foundation after the adoption of the Ministry of Finance and the law.

According to the law before the parliament, this solution is especially practical for Mihály Varga, because if he lost his seat as finance minister, he would not be left without a job, as as chairman of the board he further adjusts the 150 billion private empire and property is no longer considered state property.

The transfer of state property to “public interest foundations” outsourcing we wrote several times. The point is that the Orbán government puts universities, castles, farmland and energy companies in “public interest” foundations with people loyal to Fidesz, so they can hold key positions after a possible change of government.
