November’s four-hour self-defense seminar wasn’t about getting behind someone’s back, but rather teaching simple self-defense techniques.

Suat Öztürk, personal trainer and naturopath, as well as responsible for the rehabilitation courses in Offenbach, practiced self-defense methods such as useful gripping techniques with the participants of the Else-Herrmann-Saal senior club in order to gain time and opportunities to express self-confidence .

“In the seminar I show practical techniques for older people without strong physical effort,” explains the trainer. Participants learned how carrying an umbrella and a key can provide protection and what to do if you are “prompted or attacked.” They also practiced how to draw attention to themselves in public spaces in an emergency and where the safest area of public transport is. “The seminar helped me a lot to be more confident in difficult situations and to be able to defend myself with grappling techniques,” an elder enthused.

If you are interested in a self-defense seminar, you can register for the next seminar at the Else-Herrmann-Saal for a small fee.
