The two former Bundesliga clubs Kickers Offenbach and SSV Ulm 1846 Fußball continue to be involved in the Southwest Regionalliga in the race for the championship and promotion to the 3rd division. Both pursuers of Ligaprimus SC Freiburg II showed no nakedness on the 31st matchday and thus keep up with the top of the table.
The OFC won the Hessian duel at relegation-threatened FC Gießen 2-0 (1-0) and in second place, at least for the time being, is only three behind Freiburg, who only played against fourth-placed TSV Steinbach Haiger on Sunday (from 2 p.m.) in the top game to meet. Serkan Firat (39th) gave Kickers the lead before the break. Malte Karbstein (87th) made the decision in the final phase. The hosts from Gießen are only one point ahead of the danger zone.
The U23 of TSG Hoffenheim, which had to admit defeat to title contender SSV Ulm 1846 football 1: 4 (1: 1), remains on a relegation zone. Semih Sahin (44th) compensated for the hosts’ 1-0 lead through Robin Heußer (22nd) for TSG. In the second half, however, Nicolas Jann (56th), Marcel Schmidts (90th + 2) and the substitute Adrian Beck (90th + 3) made everything clear for Ulm. SV 07 Elversberg surrenders 2-0 lead
SV 07 Elversberg and FSV Frankfurt parted in a duel 2: 2 (2: 1) and missed and neither could make up any ground to the top. For a long time the Elversbergers, who had extended the contract with their head coach Horst Steffen a few days ago, looked like the winner after the goals of Robin Fellhauer (20th) and Israel Suero (32nd). In the end, however, the Saarlanders, who had been unbeaten for eight match days, had to be satisfied with one point because Luca Bazzoli (45th) and Arif Güclü (72nd) met to equalize for the FSV.
FC 08 Homburg continued its positive trend under the new coach Timo Wenzel and won against FC Astoria Walldorf 3-1 (1-0) at home. Ivan Sachanenko (15th) presented the lead for the former Bundesliga club. After the 1-1 draw by Nico Hillenbrand (49th), double goalscorer Damjan Marceta (62nd / 71st) brought the twelfth Homburg three-point this season under wraps. Walldorf remains in the relegation zone.
SG Sonnenhof Großaspach draws new hope
The long-time third division club SG Sonnenhof Großaspach drew new hope in the fight to stay in class, shortened the gap to the saving 16th place to two points with the 2-0 (1-0) derby victory in the second team of VfB Stuttgart. Julian Leist (42nd) and Dominik Widemann (65th) scored the goals for the team of SGS coach Walter Thomae, who previously worked for VfB for many years. The Stuttgart team went away empty-handed for the fourth time in a row, but still occupy ninth place.
TSV Schott Mainz can also hope for another season in the southwest season after the 3-1 (3-1) against Bahlinger SC. Six points separate the Mainz team from a non-relegation place. FK Pirmasens and Rot-Weiß Koblenz parted 1: 1 (1: 0). That was enough for the home side to increase the distance to the danger zone to three points. David Becker (10th) scored early for FKP, Moritz Göttel (59th) equalized for Koblenz.
Bottom light Stadtallendorf stops negative series
After 20 matchdays without a win and eight defeats in a row, the bottomed-out Eintracht Stadtallendorf stopped their negative series with the 3-2 (2-0) against the U23s of 1. FSV Mainz 05. Mirco Geisler (30th), Laurin Vogt (44th) and Muhamet Arifi (88th, penalty kick) let Stadtallendorf cheer and secured only the second win of the season for the bottom. Simon Brandstetter (51st) and Lukas Quirin (89th) could only shorten for the guests.
There was no winner in the 1: 1 (1: 0) between KSV Hessen Kassel and VfR Aalen. The 1-0 lead of the hosts by Alban Meha (40th) equalized Alessandro Abruscia (90th, penalty kick) for VfR. Thanks to the late goal, the Aalen team are still undefeated under their new coach Uwe Wolf.
The seventh defeat in a row suffered the penultimate FC Bayern Alzenau in a 2: 3 (0: 2) against TSG Balingen. A double strike through goals from Marcel Wilke (79th) and substitute Mingi Kang (80th) was not enough for Alzenau to count because Kaan Akkaya (23rd, penalty kick), Simon Klostermann (24th) and Tim Wöhrle (86th) were successful for Balingen. FC Bayern Alzenau conceded the decisive goal when they were outnumbered because “Joker” Daniel Haritonov had received the red card for a serious foul shortly before (85th).
