Preliminary results show that 42 men and 18 women have been elected to the Riga City Council. From “Development / About!” and ten women and eight men elected from the joint list of the Progressive Party (AP / P), three women and seven men from the “New Unity” (JV), from “All Latvia” – “For Fatherland and Freedom” / LNNK and the Latvian Region (NA / LRA) – two women and five men, from the New Conservative Party (JKP) – one woman and three men, and from the “Harmony” – two women and ten men.

The two political forces – “Honor to Serve Riga” (GKR) and the Latvian Russian Union (LKS) – will be represented only by men.

According to CVK data, 44 men and 16 women were elected to the Riga City Council in the 2017 municipal elections.

The average age of newly elected deputies is 47.9 years.

The youngest MEP Justine Panteleev (AP / P) is 27 years old, while the oldest MEP is Eugene Alderman (S), 77.

33.3% or 20 newly elected deputies are in the age group of 31-40 years, 30% or 18 deputies are in the age group of 51-60 years. 16.7% or 10 deputies are aged 41-50. 5% or three deputies are in two age groups, namely, from 21-30 years and from 71-80 years. 10% or six MEPs are aged between 61 and 70.

Secondary education is 5% or for three deputies, higher education – 88.3% or 53 deputies.

In turn, 6.7% or four deputies did not provide information about education.

According to ethnicity, 48.3% or 29 newly elected deputies are Latvians,

8.3% or five deputies are Russian, one each Jew and one Liv, while 40% or 24 deputies have not revealed their ethnicity.

48 out of the newly elected deputies live in Riga, six in Jūrmala, but one of them comes from Rēzekne, Babīte, Carnikava, Mazsalaca, Mārupe and Olaine districts.

It has already been reported that the Riga Election Commission has compiled the election results from all 156 polling stations, thus the preliminary composition of the next Riga City Council is known.

Seven political forces have joined the Riga City Council. The list of AP / P will be next to the mandates of 18 deputies, “Sadarba” will get 12 chairs of councilors, JV – ten, “All for Latvia” – “For Fatherland and Freedom” / LNNK and Latvian Association of Regions (NA / LRA) joint list – seven, GKR – five, but LKS and JKP – four seats each.

According to the information gathered by the CEC, Mārtiņš Staķis, Anete Jēkabsone-Žogota, Mārtiņš Kossovičs, Edmunds Cepurītis, Antoņina Nenaševa, Māris Mičerevskis, Agnese Logina, Iveta Ratinīka, Alesturs Vepā Viesturs Kleinbergs, Miroslavs Kodis, Panteļējeva, Laima Geikina, Mairita Lūse, Rūta Mežavilka and Ivars Drulle.

Vilnis Ķirsis, Ints Ķuzis, Inese Andersone, Olafs Pulks, Dzintra Geka-Vaska, Lauris Ērenpreiss, Uģis Rotbergs, Kārlis Šadurskis, Rita Našeniece and Kaspars Spunde have been elected from the JV capital to the municipality.

Einārs Cilinskis, Edvards Smiltēns, Ieva Brante, Ieva Siliņa, Dainis Locis, Jurģis Klotiņš and Valdis Gavars will represent the NA / LRA council, but JKP – Linda Ozola, Jānis Ozols, Dāvis Stalts and Valters Bergs.

Konstantin Chekushin, Anna Vladova, Andris Morozov, Aldermane, Romans Mežeckis, Mihails Kameņeckis, Andrejs Kozlovs, Sandris Bergmanis, Raimonds Rubiks, Igors Solomatins, Andrejs Kameņeckis and Vadims Falkovs will represent “Saskaņi” in the new council term.

GKR will be represented in the Riga City Council by Oļegs Burovs, Juris Radzevičs, Dainis Turlais, Ainars Baštiks and Jakovs Rafaļsons, but LKS – by Miroslavs Mitrofanovs, Jakovs Pliners, Vladimirs Buzajevs and Aleksandrs Kuzmins.
