Club: Toulouse Golf Club

Titled in October French amateur champion of the 1st division, the women’s team of the Toulouse Golf club achieved an incredible feat on the greens of Bondues (North). Christophe Berthelot’s protégés not only obtained their first coronation, but they also put an end to the hegemony of Racing Club de France and its 17 straight titles. Without forgetting that the Parisiennes had put an end to the dream of Toulouse during the 2014 final. “It’s the work of a whole club. We have the experience of having lost against Parisian clubs who know how to win. The experience of losing wins. We put the birdies in the hottest moments, from the 15th to the 17th, and that’s what allowed us to win with a score of 4-3 ”, summarizes Christophe Berthelot. Bravo to Zoé Allaux, Clémence Cadéac, Yvie Chaucheprat, Céline Manche, Carla Mengelle, Louise Reau, Claire Thuault (captain) and Marion Veysseyre.

Volunteer: François Lafforgue (tennis / TC Cierp-Gaud)

“I was the only one to practice this discipline. I had even built a machine to send the balls ”. Between François Lafforgue (81) and tennis, it all started in 1967 on the Cierp-Gaud court. In 2021, the love story still lasts. “I have been president of the club since 1968. In the 2000s, we had up to 200 licensees. Currently, we only have about fifteen. But I still give lessons to ten children ”, specifies this fan of Roger Federer, classified 15 at his best level. In 1989, he even became a sports advisor (CSD) for Haute-Garonne. “In the meantime, in 1974, I had launched the idea of free play which consisted of hitting the ball outside of official competitions because at the time children played very little”, explains this former rugby player. He sums up his passion in one sentence: “When I enter a field, I breathe. “

Handisport: Ugo Didier (swimming / JS Cugnaux)

“It was a default choice because I can’t run or jump. »Born with a deformity (he has club feet and atrophied lower limbs), Ugo Didier (19) thus plunged into disabled swimming in 2015. Since then, the member of the Cugnaux swimming circle has quickly climbed the ranks to find themselves selected for the Tokyo Paralympic Games scheduled for August 24 to September 5. A ticket obtained thanks to his title of vice-world champion 2019 (in London) on the 100m backstroke S9. But on his specialty, this student at INSA Toulouse obtained the world title in 2017. The following year, he won the European Championship. For the Japanese meeting, his objective is clear: “I am aiming for the gold medal, but also a podium in the 400m freestyle. “In the back of his mind, there is obviously the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. But all in good time.
