OB leader and songwriter Ints Ķergalvis, also known as Speiss, states that this concert in a way marks a gap between what the group has been like so far and future plans:
“Some stage has been completed again, a new one must be started. 24 has always been a particularly lucky number for me. By all accounts, next year is going to be special. Several very important milestones in the group’s development are already known, including the most powerful concert so far. We have been seriously preparing for this for a long time and we believe that everything will work out!”
In honor of the anniversary, OB’s third studio album will be released Outside, and for the first time the band’s work will be available on vinyl. At the same time as the album, a new song – “Zirgspēki” with a music video made by video artist Jānis Teter will also see the light of day.
OB guitarist and idea generator Kaspars Čakste explains that birthdays are traditionally the most important event of the year for the band: “We like to celebrate life. And the birthday is the beginning of every life.”
Various events have also been held in honor of this event in previous years. For many fans of the group’s work, the anniversary bus trip to Liepāja and others has already become a tradition. This time, OB musicians have decided to raise the bar higher.
“It really feels like the right time to fire our turbo folk charge in one proper gig. We want to pass this energy on and see all these happy people together, thirsty for crazy dances and singing along,”
says OB trumpeter Nauris Bruņinieks.
OB announced herself on the stage in March 2000. Currently, the group plays music in the composition of eight men and has become an inseparable heavyweight of the Latvian alternative music scene. The association has pleased the audience at almost all the most important music events in Latvia, as well as in many places outside the country’s borders.
