Eric Adams is the official mayor of New York: the previous head of the borough of Brooklyn took his oath of office during the New Year’s Eve celebrations in Times Square.
The biggest task for the Democrats is initially to deal with the Corona crisis. In addition, the focus is on the economic recovery of the metropolis – dealing with the police, which many New Yorkers view critically, is also likely to be a difficult task.
The 61-year-old is the 110th and second black mayor of New York – there has never been a woman in this office before.
