NEW YORK – A woman trying to enter a Queens subway station this week was trapped at a turnstile when a man approached her from behind, blocked her and took her bag, police said.
A video released by police shows Tuesday’s robbery at 63 Drive subway station in Rego Park. The woman attempted to walk through the turnstile for her whole body at around 11:40 am when she got stuck.
Police said the 26-year-old victim was grabbed by an unknown assailant who kept her trapped inside the turnstile until he was able to steal her bag and escape.
The woman tried to defend herself and resisted, but could not get out of the mechanical trap until her attacker escaped. Fortunately, the woman was not injured in the ordeal, police said.
Three days later, the man was still on the run and is being sought by police, who released the new surveillance images on Friday.
