NEW YORK – People who get vaccinated starting Friday at a vaccination center run by New York City will receive a new incentive for their wallet. This time they will be given $ 100, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Wednesday during his press conference.
The measure is part of a new effort by the mayor to increase the number of vaccinations in the Big Apple amid concerns about the increase in COVID-19 cases, mainly related to the delta variant, and after a decrease in the number of people that are inoculated compared to the beginning of the process.
“The incentives help mentally and that’s why we announced an important one because there are hundreds of New Yorkers who need to be vaccinated,” said the mayor. “Beginning Friday when you receive your first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, you will receive a $ 100 incentive at any administered vaccination center in New York City.”
The mayor said Wednesday that so far 9,902,097 doses of COVID-19 have been administered.
