NYC Opens Registration for Free Summer Program for K-8 Students – NBC New York (47)

The New York City Department of Education opened registration for the free summer program on Monday. Summer Rising for students currently in grades K-8.

With this initiative, students in grades K-8 will have access to academic and enrichment programs during the summer throughout the day, including field trips, arts activities, and outdoor recreation. Programs will be full-day, in-person, and collaboratively planned and operated by school principals and community organizations.

The environment will be safe and supportive with staff prepared to respond to the social and emotional needs of the children. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

A typical day for students in grades K-8 will include a mix of academic support, social emotional learning, and enrichment activities.

The department is preparing a transportation plan for this summer and will share details as soon as possible.
