Number of missing after Miami flat disaster significantly reduced

The number of missing persons from the Miami condominium disaster has fallen from 145 to 128. According to local authorities, the list was duplicated, for example because both the English and the Hebrew names of the missing were given. Some people who were registered as missing also reported themselves.

Two new bodies have been recovered in the past 24 hours, including that of a 7-year-old girl. This brings the provisional death toll to 20. Among the dead are three children. Since the first hours after the disaster, on the night of June 23 to 24, no one has been rescued alive from the rubble.

The search for victims resumed last night local time at the partially collapsed apartment building in the US state of Florida. Work had been halted for fifteen hours because there was a threat of collapse of the part of the apartment that is still standing. A plan is now being drawn up to demolish that part as well, so that salvage workers are less at risk.
