VLAARDINGEN – A bad week in Vlaardingen when it comes to new corona infections. While the number of infections in the Netherlands is declining significantly across the board, more people were tested positive here in the city last week.
From Monday to Sunday, approximately 25 percent more residents of Vlaardingen were diagnosed with the virus in the GGD test streets. A total of 228 townspeople tested positive; the week before, this was the case with 183 people.
Since the peak in infections in mid-April, the number of weekly new infections that were detected in the test streets – and in a few by GGD staff at their home – has fallen by just under nineteen percent among Vlaardingen. In Schiedam this was almost 55 percent, in Maassluis 36 percent.
While fewer people made their way to the test street in all surrounding cities (Maassluis, Schiedam and Rotterdam), the number in Vlaardingen increased significantly, by about 22 percent, from 1028 to 1255. tests than two weeks ago, while that number fell by more than a quarter in Schiedam, for example.
