Number of classic party shops is shrinking: ‘They have lasted a long time’

Fancy dress, face paint and other party items: they are bought less often in the classic party store. In the past four years, about twenty percent of the businesses disappeared from the shopping street, says research agency Locatus in the run-up to carnival.

There were 203 on 1 January 2018, now there are 160. The corona years did not do the stores well, says director Gertjan Slob. However, according to him, that is not the main reason that these cases closed their doors.
