Ntoum – Cocobeach:Rehabilitation works launched Ntoum

Libreville, Tuesday, May 23, 2023 (Gabon Info) – Three members of the government have kicked off the maintenance site of this section which has become impassable.

The ordeal of the users of the Ntoum – Cocobeach section will soon be only a sad memory. With his colleagues from Decentralization, Cohesion and Territorial Development, Michel Menga M’Essone, and National Education, Carmelia Ntoutoume Leclercq, all from the area, the Minister of Public Works, Toussaint Nkouma Emane , launched yesterday Monday the rehabilitation works of the Ntoum – Cocobeach axis. Lasting eight months, the works themselves, worth nearly one billion F financed by the National Autonomous Road Maintenance Fund (FANER) and carried out by the company SOCOBA, will relate to the reloading completion of this 83 km section which has fallen into disrepair over the past ten years.

For Toussaint Nkouma Emane, this rehabilitation emanates from the will of the President of the Republic, Ali Bongo Ondimba, who has made road maintenance a whole leitmotif. “As soon as we took office, the Head of State instructed us, as quickly as possible, to proceed with the development of a priority program of dirt roads, and naturally within the framework of this priority program, it was essential to even align the rehabilitation of this road axis which is very important, which provides service between Ntoum and Cocobeach”, launched the Minister of Public Works. On the side of the winning company, we want to be reassured about the nature of the work to be carried out. “There will be the treatment of the quagmires, then there will be the repair of the culverts, the replacement of the metal culverts by culverts, one by one, in more resistant concrete, there will be the repair of the wooden bridges which are completely defective and thereafter, we will have a laterite reloading on all 83 KM of the section », said Jules Okouyi, works supervisor at SOCOBA.

A source of pride for the nationals of this road axis which ultimately sees the end of a long period of ordeal. “It is a great relief for the populations, we are full of gratitude”, rejoices Carmelia Ntoutoume Leclercq. “The development of this region is linked to this road, if we have this road, the rest will follow. This is everyone’s concern,” said Michel Menga M’Essone.
