Xavi Hernandez, the former Barcelona captain and the current Qatari Al Sadd coach, did not welcome the idea of signing the Catalan club with Liverpool Senegalese Sadio Mane.
According to the newspaper “Liverpool Echo”, some Spanish reports indicated in recent months that Mane is one of the names on the Barcelona table to join the Camp Nou during the next summer transfer period.
But Xavi thinks Mane will not be the best match to play at Camp Nou and compare him to Uruguayan Luis Suarez, the former Liverpool striker.
During statements made by Liverpool Echo, Xavi said: “Mane and Obamyang can play in a little wide spaces, they do not match the way Barcelona play.”
He added: “The Catalan team needs players who are good at playing in small spaces, it is not easy to find a player who adapts to Barcelona.”
And Samuel Eto’o was as perfect as Luis Suárez now.
Mane moved to Liverpool at the start of the 2016/2017 season from Southampton, and the Senegalese player helped crown the Reds in the Champions League, Club World Cup and European Super.
