KOMPAS.com – Six men were arrested by the police after a video of the alleged torture of the endangered species in the hoop West Sumatra viral on social media.

In the video that was circulating, it looked like they were being abused and the teenagers burst out laughing.

But what actually happened was not as imagined. The six men were later released by the police.

The scream of the hoop made him laugh

Six people were initially arrested under suspicion of mistreatment of endangered animals. They apparently were students of the silat hermitage.

The six of them are considered to have different roles, namely MR (15) holding a hoop tail, HF (32) holding a sack, TPT (16) and JM (45) seen standing in the video, A (17) a video recorder, and RM (18). ) which spreads the video.

During the interrogation, the six men were not proven to have mistreated him, they even helped him.

When they were about to help a hoop that fell from a tree, the reaction of the hoop actually screamed and made them laugh.

“They intend to help him, but the hoops reacted screaming so they laughed as if they were enjoying the incident,” said Forest Ecosystem Controller of the West Sumatra BKSDA, Ade Putra, who was contacted Kompas.com, Sunday (4/4/2021).

It turned out that they took the hoop to the silat hermitage to be treated.

According to him, the incident actually took place almost three months ago.

“They are students of the silat hermitage. After being treated, Simpai was then released again. It happened on January 14, 2021,” said Ade.

The video was viral

The video, which was recorded in Nagari Tambangan, X Koto District, Tanah Data Regency, West Sumatra, went viral.

The video is uploaded to the Instagram account @jakartaanimalaidnetwork, among others.

In the video, a number of teenage boys seem to be hurting the rare animal by pulling its tail.

Hoops was seen screaming and then entering the river. Seeing the hoop’s behavior, the teenager seemed to laugh until it seemed like he was torturing him.

After the incident, the West Sumatra BKSDA then conducted a search and looked for the men in the video.

However, they were later released because they were not proven to have mistreated protected animals.
