José Mourinho used social media to congratulate Fernando Pimenta, who won the bronze medal in canoeing in Tokyo2020. What Mourinho didn’t expect was that the post would be blocked by Instagram for copyright infringement.
The video that the Portuguese coach published, relating to Pimenta’s competition at the Olympics, was deleted, but the message to the Olympic athlete remained the same.
«They blocked my video of the great Fernando Pimenta due to copyrights. Here’s the photo with my admiration for a tuga whose medal came out of his little body with a lot of hard work», wrote José Mourinho on Instagram.
This case is not isolated. Jamaican athlete Elaine Thompson-Herah, who won the gold medal in the 100 meters and 200 meters of athletics in Tokyo2020, had her Instagram account blocked for a few hours by sharing the video of her events at the Games.
