Not a sport, but a cruel game

To the article “Is a laser tag arena coming for Zell?” The following letter to the editor reached the editors (from December 19).

Why don’t the administration and the municipal councils prepare better for such a sensitive topic. As early as 2016, the OVG Rhineland-Palatinate ruled that a laser tag system was not a sports facility, but an entertainment venue. The consequence of this ruling is that such a facility in a commercial area could not be approved.

This area is shown as a commercial area on the Zell website, although it is actually a mixed area. Bernd Spengler’s statement that the council is not entitled to express sympathy or antipathy is strange.

One should be aware that in this ?? game ?? A phaser is aimed at people, except that the shot is not fatal. Bad enough that guns are still killing countless people in the world.

I believe that the OVG is wrong when it sees this as a game. If so, then at most it’s a cruel game.

Respect for the local councils who have obviously made themselves known and have not followed the majority. Do the citizens who voted for the eleven municipal councils really want such a facility, and in such an exposed place?
