Nostalgia and NRJ confirm growth: “Every wave we can do more …

Even in corona times, the Flemish continues to listen to the radio en masse. This is evident from the new figures from the Center for Information on the Media (CIM). Almost all radio stations remained stable in the first half of the year, although figures for March and April could not be calculated due to the pandemic.

At Nostalgie, the growth from the beginning of this year is confirmed: the station reaches almost a million listeners every week. Good for a market share of 7.4 percent. This is even 10.9 percent for the target audience between 35 and 54 years old. “These are atypical times, so we are very satisfied with these results,” says director Tom Klerkx. “We have done great things both in front and behind the scenes in recent months. We had great music promotions and handed out thousands of free mouth masks. We also built a brand new studio and launched a new app and website. More than ever we are ready for the autumn. ”

Little brother NRJ also maintained its position, including with a few international guests in the studio, and shows a growth in the young target group. “We can convince more listeners with every wave. And we continue to radiate that ambition. ” Radio 2 remains the largest station in Flanders with a market share of 29 percent, Qmusic follows in second place with 10.4 percent.
