The FRP deputy leader believes Jens Stoltenberg should not get the top job.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg (62) can be Øystein Olsen’s successor as Governor. Stoltenberg himself says that he will say yes if he is asked, but several are now going out and warning against hiring the former prime minister.
– Jens is unsuitable due to his Labor affiliation, says FRP deputy leader Ketil Solvik-Olsen to Nettavisen.

– Not independent
Solvik-Olsen, who was previously FRP’s fiscal policy spokesperson, warns against hiring Stoltenberg.
– He can not appear independent when he is at the same time almost a fixture at Aps national meeting, he says, and at the same time adds:
– We laugh at “banana republics” that gather power in small circles.
The position as central bank governor will become vacant in February next year, when Øystein Olsen (69) resigns after 11 years. While Stoltenberg is finished as NATO chief by the autumn of next year.

– I’m skeptical
Solvik-Olsen is not the only one who is critical of a comeback from Stoltenberg in the Norwegian public as central bank governor.
“Many people are thrilled by the idea of Stoltenberg as the new central bank governor. I’m more skeptical. Norges Bank must be and be perceived as independent. Then one should think carefully before appointing a boss with such strong political and personal ties to the government », writes the Liberal Party’s Sveinung Rotevatn on Twitter.

He is accompanied by FRP’s fiscal policy spokesman, Sivert Bjørnstad:
“I know too little about whether Jens Stoltenberg is professionally qualified for the position of central bank governor. But when we considered the new central bank law two years ago, where I was the spokesperson, the independence of the bank was one of the most important. It can be endangered with Jens Stoltenberg », he writes.
– Skilled economist
However, KrF’s fiscal policy spokesperson, Kjell Ingolf Ropstad, does not share the concern about Stoltenberg’s candidacy.
– Jens Stoltenberg is a very skilled economist and leader with a unique experience nationally and internationally. I see no fundamental objections to him as a possible central bank governor. At the same time, I have respect for the fact that a recruitment process will be carried out, he wrote in an SMS to Nettavisen on Wednesday.
Another clear favorite to take over the top position is the current Deputy Governor of Norges Bank, Ida Wolden Bache (48). With an interruption of three years, she has been associated with Norges Bank since 1998, and was appointed Deputy Governor last year.
