Long lines at security checks and missed flights at NRW airports. The argument is not new: these problems already existed in the summer months. But almost nothing has changed since then. On Friday afternoon, long lines formed again in front of the controls.
Travelers also need to be prepared for long wait times on Saturdays, as Düsseldorf and Cologne-Bonn airports announce on their websites. After the waiting time in Cologne-Bonn in the morning had been 110 minutes, the situation has now been defused. Passengers currently have to wait 5 minutes.

There were also long lines at Düsseldorf airport on Saturday morning, especially before 7am, a spokesman for the federal police told WDR. With the additional forces of the Federal Police, required by the Sankt Augustin headquarters, the volume of check-ins was largely under control. Federal police officers would help with the briefing. There are still queues at the moment, but they are much smaller than in the early morning.
Eurowings recommends using the online check-in service
Eurowings airline, the largest airline at Düsseldorf and Cologne-Bonn airports, advises travelers to use the online check-in service. Passengers must drop off their bags at so-called self-bagage drop-off stations.
Waiting times: up to two hours
On Friday, passengers had to wait up to two hours at Düsseldorf airport to go through security. One reason for the long line was that the Glastech show was coming to an end.
