Thursday evening, between 9 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., the gendarmes of the company of Thionville, with the reinforcements of the mobile brigade of Hayange, of a dog team of Metz and of reservists of the grouping of Moselle, posted in four points of the territory, at the border with Luxembourg. “We also received reinforcement from a municipal police officer at one of the checkpoints,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Guillaume Chanudet, who heads the Thionville company. Behind this deployment of 32 soldiers, it was a question of “ensuring that the curfew is respected, while monitoring delinquency”.

Nearly 150 vehicles
In all, nearly 150 vehicles were stopped for proper certification checks. “They were above all cross-border workers returning from their place of work and who could justify their displacement. The traffic was also rather calm, which is a sign of respect for the measures by the population, ”analyzes the officer. However, this did not prevent the military from noting several offenses. A dozen non-compliance with the curfew with, as a bonus, three offenses for the use or possession of narcotics, as well as nine offenses against the Highway Code, including two under the influence of alcohol with an offender placed in custody on sight for refusal to comply.
With the end of year celebrations approaching, new controls will be organized at other points in the sector.
