After North Korea launched a short-range ballistic missile into the eastern sea of the Korean Peninsula last night, it launched a suspected intercontinental ballistic missile into the eastern sea this morning.
The Japan Coast Guard said the missile launched by North Korea this morning fell into the sea west of Hokkaido about an hour after it flew.
Japan’s Defense Ministry stated that North Korea launched an intercontinental ballistic missile this morning with a range of more than 15,000 kilometers and can reach anywhere in the United States.
South Korea, Japan and the United States have all condemned North Korea’s actions as violating relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. A spokesman for the U.S. State Department said that North Korea’s launch of ballistic missiles poses a threat to neighboring countries and jeopardizes regional security.
North Korea’s Ministry of Defense criticized South Korea and the United States for their continued deployment of nuclear strikes this year, warning that any attempt to use force against North Korea would be met with a preemptive and devastating response.
