North: an employee loses his life by falling from a 30-meter high silo

An employee of a service provider company died Friday in Dunkirk (North) by falling from a silo while he was carrying out a cleaning operation, announced the company where the drama took place.

The 48-year-old man was on the roof of the grain elevator when he fell about 30 meters. Despite the rapid intervention of rescue workers, he could not be resuscitated, announced in a North Cereals statement.

“The men who make up the teams of this service provider are experienced mountaineers and experienced in this type of mission that they regularly practice on many other sites requiring their skills,” said the company’s general manager, Joël Ratel, quoted in the press release, also saying his “misunderstanding”.

“The circumstances of the accident remain to be determined,” said the press release.
