WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF LAKE SALDA?

Salda Lake is a slightly salty karstic lake in Yeşilova district of Burdur, 4 km from the district center, surrounded by forested hills, rocky lands and small alluvial plains.

Its area is approximately 44 square kilometers. With up to 184 meters deep is the deepest lake in Turkey 3. In addition to the beautiful view formed by the cleanness of the water and the turquoise color, small beaches located on the southwest and southeast coasts allow the area to be used for recreative purposes.

Salda Lake is located approximately 60 km west of the province of Burdur. Turkey’s deepest, cleanest, best known as the lake has clear features. Its height above sea level is 1140 m.

The forest cover on the back of the lake is partridge, rabbit, fox, wild boar, and the lake is home to wild ducks. There are seven white islands that begin to be seen by drawing water in the lake.

HIGHLY RICH IN PLANT AND WILDLIFE SPECIES

Lake Salda and its environs also show a rich structure in terms of plant and wildlife species. Around the lake, there are 301 aquatic and terrestrial plant species, 20 of which belong to 61 families.

Among these plants, Vebrascum dudleyanum (Salby mullein) and Vebrascum flabellifolium (Mullein), which are endemic and critically endangered (CR) according to IUCN, and Bolanthus thymoides, which have the least worrying (LC) feature, ), Trigonella rostrata and Amelanchier parvifloravar.parviflora (Karagöz) plants.

There are also 114 inland aquatic species, 5 two-living, 27 reptiles, 69 birds and 5 mammals in the area.

Of the 69 bird species in the area, 54 are native and / or summer migrants, and 15 are winter migrants.

Among these bird species, Alcedo atthis (Kingfisher) species Critically (CR), in the critical danger category, Phalarocorax aristotelis (Crested cormorant), Ardea purpurea (Erguvani heron), Ardea alba (Great egret), Falco tinnunculus (Kestrel), Athene noctua ), Phoenicurus ochruros (Black redstart), Oriolus oriolus (Sarıasma), Sylvia atricapilla (Black-head warbler), Ficedula albicollis (Ringed flycatcher) and Sylvia communis (Akgerdanlötleğen) are Endangered (EN) according to IUCN.
