Marian Berky’s charges had nothing to lose against the seven-time European champions.
The Spaniards confirmed their strength from the beginning, Mellado opened the score in the 2nd minute after a rehearsed signal, but the concept of the Slovak team did not collapse.
The Slovaks even got offensive flashes in the middle of the opponent, but in the first place they tried to defend responsibly. However, Ševčík did not manage to connect with it, as his team mates had hoped, and the ball went out.
After that, the Slovaks tried the game in power play, but their opponent added a third goal during the break, when Raul Campos pushed through.
The Slovaks entered the second half again with a game without a goalkeeper with five players in the field, but they did not surprise the opponent with this move.
In the 24th minute, Směřička collected a red card, which he intentionally played with his hand in an attempt to prevent a goal. The next hit of the favorite came immediately in the power play, Mellardo aimed exactly at the exposed goal.
