«No reliability and no transparency»: ‘Serving Benfica’ reacts to the statement by the president of MAG – Benfica

The ‘Servir o Benfica’ movement reacted this Monday to the statement sent by the chairman of the General Assembly of the eagles, António Pires de Andrade, who said on Sunday he was waiting for the green light from the General Directorate of Health [DGS] to schedule the Extraordinary General Meeting, pointing out that it will be a reality in the last half of August or in September.

In a statement published this Monday on social networks, the movement invited the president of MAG do Benfica “to make available the Regulation delivered by the subscribers of the application to call the AGE on the club’s official channels, for its dissemination and appreciation by members of Sport Lisboa e Benfica”, stressing that ‘Servir o Benfica’ is ready “to collaborate with PMAG in helping to prepare the requested EGM”. Regarding the counting of votes, which took place “9 months after the election, the movement stressed that it was done “without reliability and without transparency”, adding that “the coupons [de votos] they were deposited in unsealed urns, having been transported in unmarked vehicles and kept in an uncertain place, during all these months”.

Here is the official statement from the ‘Servir o Benfica’ movement:

“In relation to the statement published yesterday by the Chairman of the Board of the General Meeting of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Servir o Benfica refers the following:

“- The recognition of the need to approve an Electoral Regulation is welcomed. Servir o Benfica presented its proposal in due time, safeguarding the Club’s historic democracy.

“- We urge the PMAG to make available the Regulations delivered by the subscribers of the application to call the EGM on the club’s official channels, for its dissemination and appreciation by Sport Lisboa e Benfica members;

“- We remain available to collaborate with PMAG in helping to prepare the requested EGM;

“- The vote count communicated yesterday was not requested by the subscribers of the application, but its presentation allowed us to validate the urgency of auditing the 2020 electoral process, namely in the contracts signed with the various entities responsible for the collection, storage and maintenance of the ballot boxes ;

“- Contrary to what PMAG says in its statement, the receipts were deposited in unsealed urns, having been transported in unmarked vehicles and kept in an uncertain place, during all these months. As all the Benfica players could verify, it did not go to Reisswolf who collected the ballot boxes during the night of October 28th.

“- The attitude of the representatives of the competing lists last October is welcomed, who refused to participate in a “counting” of votes 9 months after the election to legitimize the electronic vote not audited by any independent entity.

“After July, the Chairman of the Board of the General Meeting of Sport Lisboa e Benfica now refers August or September as the proposed dates for scheduling the Extraordinary General Meeting. That, this time, all the conditions are met for its scheduling with the order of work requested is a reality”, it can be read.
