Cultural differences are something that is quite surprising for some people. This is also felt by Ahmad, the younger brother of the deceased Syekh Ali Jaber.
Ahmad Jaber told his experience when he came to Indonesia for the first time. He admitted that he had felt culture shock although I really like this country.
The first arrival of Ahmad Jaber came to Indonesia in 2010. At that time, he only came to visit the late Sheikh Ali Jaber. Ahmad stayed for two months before returning to Saudi Arabia.
When he arrived in Indonesia, Ahmad Jaber was surprised by the view of the city which turned out to be no less advanced than Saudi Arabia. All this time, he and the people of Saudi Arabia thought that Indonesia was not a beautiful country.
“We didn’t expect Indonesia to be like this. We live in Saudi, advanced in terms of facilities and others. But when we arrived in Indonesia, the roads were wide, there were many big buildings. How is Indonesia like this?” said Ahmad, quoted from the channel YouTube Fouly.
During this time, many Arabs thought that Indonesia was filled with people with middle to lower economies. Because every TKI who works in Saudi Arabia only tells about his hometown.
“There has never been a good story about Indonesia. Only stories in the village, looking for money, trying to build a house. That’s something that shows that it is below standard. Life in Indonesia must be normal. But it turns out that Indonesia is included in the 20 largest economic countries,” he said.
Amazement Ahmad Jaber | towards Indonesia made him unable to contain his longing for this country. He continued to visit Indonesia back and forth for four years.
“Back again, it turned out that I immediately missed it. So 2011 came again. It stayed for two to three months. When you returned, you couldn’t be separated again. So 2012-2014 was longer in Indonesia. Until 2016 finally got married in Indonesia,” he said.
