No opera balls in Leipzig and Dresden, but: Not danced out yet!

Leipzig / Dresden – Is it all a waltz ?! Saxony’s ball organizers do not want to let the joy of life and partying be taken away. You look hopefully into the coming year after the 26th Leipzig Opera Ball 2020 was canceled (should have taken place on October 17th).

“Will we see you again on October 30, 2021?” Asked the Leipzig ball makers to their fans Facebook.

A spokeswoman explains: “We have decided to forego an international theme at the next opera ball and instead dedicate our ball to the local artists out of solidarity.”

The team of the Dresden Semper Opera Ball is also focused on 2021. The 2nd Dresden Opera Ball in Saint Petersburg, which was planned for September 12, 2020, had to be canceled due to the pandemic.

It is now hoped to catch up on the summer night ball on the banks of the Neva on April 24, 2021 in the Mikhailovsky Theater and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic.

In addition, the Semper Opera Ball Association is currently looking for a possible hygiene concept for the 16th Semper Opera Ball on February 26, 2021. So far, ticket sales for the event have not started. When asked, the organization office announced that public comments on the concept and the artistic program of the event will probably only be made in early November.

Is there a threat of rejection? Not unthinkable. The Vienna Opera Ball scheduled for February 11, 2021 has already been canceled.
