On Sunday and Monday, the corona figures will no longer be updated by health service Sciensano. Consequently, the overviews at Het Laatste Nieuws will no longer appear on these days. In addition, Sciensano and the Crisis Center will organize a press conference about the corona figures only once a week from next week.

Since yesterday/Saturday, hospitals no longer have to register their daily figures in real time on Saturday and Sunday. They can postpone that to Monday.

Tuesday
As a result, the Covid-19 figures on Sunday and Monday cannot be updated on the Epistat dashboard and in the open datasets and from now on no daily report will appear on Sunday and Monday. To avoid confusion, there is no longer any communication on Sunday and Monday about the number of infections, the tests taken and the vaccination figures. The weekend figures will be available on the Epistat dashboard on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. and in the daily report from 11 a.m.

“We will continue to monitor the epidemiological situation closely, not relying on the 1-day figures, but on the general trends and various indicators,” said Sciensano in a press release.

Press conference on Wednesday
The press conference of the Crisis Center and Sciensano will now take place on Wednesdays at 11 a.m., Yves Stevens, spokesman for the National Crisis Center, has reported.
