No masks at the Ballinciaga concert in Oslo Spektrum – VG

THE SOUND OF 2022: Ballinciaga and David Mokel.

Fans will not be able to imitate the image of the band during the concert on Saturday. A security measure, says the concert hall.

On Saturday afternoon, Ballinciaga posted on his Instagram story that Oslo Spektrum will not allow the band’s trademark – pink balaclava – to be worn by the public during the evening’s event.

– It is an overall assessment that was made to have control over the public and who is there, says Per-Ole Moen, managing director of Spektrum, to VG.

He says the measure was taken so that security personnel have the opportunity to assess whether the public is okay and if they are safe.

– If anything happens, we need to be able to identify people. If they wear masks, our staff don’t have the opportunity to see facial expressions and facial expressions, says Moen.

– Quite a breakdown. We really wanted to give masks to everyone present, one of the Ballinciaga members tells VG.

According to him, a wardrobe solution will be created for spectators who carry the masks with them in the arena.

He also says the pink masks will not be sold at tonight’s concert.

Furthermore, according to Ballinciaga, the ban applies both to the audience in the stalls, where there is a free age limit, and to the stalls, where you must be at least 18 years old.

Putting face masks in bags or pockets is also not relevant, according to the Spektrum manager.

– The starting point is that they shouldn’t be brought in, because then you don’t have control over whether they are caught or not, explains Per-Ole Moen.

  • From here on out, this case is an interview with Ballinciaga and David Mokel that was released today.
READY FOR THE PARTY: Ballinciaga and David Mokel at Oslo Spektrum.

– I won’t be thirty in a pink mask, says 19-year-old David Mokel, who leads this year’s dominant Norwegian hitters.

– You’re going to die before you’re thirty, right? The rock star, “the 27 club!”, Replies one of Ballinciaga’s slightly older boys, a trio who constantly insists on wearing the mask.

At the time of writing, the Ballinciaga / Mokel constellation has amassed over 32 million Spotify plays of “Dans på bordet”. Eight months after its release, it became one of the biggest Norwegian hits of all time.

The song is sure to bring the house down when it arrives at Oslo Spektrum on Saturday night.

And it’s still in the ongoing Top 10 VG List.

– Sick summer

– We almost think it’s a little strange that people haven’t heard of “Dans på bordet” yet, he says, who is believed to be some kind of leader in Ballin, as they are called for short.

The song is by no means Ballinciaga’s only monstrous success.

“Beklager (Guttaklubben)” will soon have 19 million plays on Spotify, “Tante” has over 14 million. While both “Fakk min X”, “Block Party” and “Kjære alkohol” are still among the 100 most played in the country now.

Problem:

– We had a bad summer festival, so we didn’t have much time to make new music.

A slightly lower release rate is now a conscious choice, they say.

– We had many at once and it was fun to paper the lists as much as possible. But there is also a point where people shouldn’t get bored in the first year. It’s nice to know that when you do something new now, you have to deliver.

The numbers of “Dance on the table” are astounding, even for the creators. Although everything was pointing upwards since they released “Loud Luxury 2022” – 17 million on Spotify – exactly one year ago.

– A year ago, no one thought this was a possibility.

– I guess I thought it would be that big, says the tallest of the trio, with the dark voice they love to advertise their merchandise with.

– Just not so fast!

Those dressed in roses refer to David Mokel as “the sweet”. The 19-year-old puts a face to success, literally.

He says he does not have a manager or has signed with any record company at the moment.

But could he imagine going alone?

– Well, I’m just here for the atmosphere, laughs.

– We’ll see, maybe people will be tired of “Dance on the table” next year.

According to VG’s knowledge, there is great interest in Mokel’s signing in the industry. We pass it on.

– Ah, that’s cute.

1 / 3

NOT YET ALONE: David Mokel.

Mokel was reportedly not chosen for the collaboration due to his qualities as a singer.

Rather, because it has already made a big impact on perhaps the music industry’s most important launch platform now: TikTok.

– I was surprised that they wanted to do a song with me, because I was just a Tiktoker, says Mokel.

– I helped them with TikTok and they helped me with music. Good combination.

– It wasn’t so into doing it when we did it with David, TikTok was a bit small and “shivering” says the tall, dark-voiced pink.

– Now it is so common that now it is not something we want to do, we want to think about the future. When everyone else does, we will do something else.

Hulsker fan

What is this “other”, for now they mean nothing.

– Do you use a YouTuber ?, suggests Mokel.

– We want to do what people don’t expect of us, he says haughtily.

– Music in Norway is very boring. Always safe choices, safe answers, everything is so calm and uninvolving. We will do everything but that. We want to do something exciting that people want to see, that they don’t know yet that they want to see.

Either way, the way Mokel promotes himself and his friends is different.

Like, for example, this collage he was about to make earlier this week that toured the Spektrum with:

– I spent a lot of time on that collage! I had many serious drafts. There was one where I first had a Ballin cap on Bernt Hulsker, but instead it became “making America great again”.

– Why did you want to include Bernt Hulsker in the promotion of your Spektrum concert?

– No, I like his music.

(Earlier this week, the former VGTV profile became Hulsker sentenced to suspended imprisonment and a fine for hate speech. She released the summer song “In the shadow” in 2019.)

Repair alcohol

In social media, Mokel is often the first to make fun of the band that made him (most) famous – and Ballinciaga’s other semi-permanent singer, Kevin Lauren.

– They are the ones who make fun of me! Says Mokel.

“Hard love”, insists DJ Ballinciagas.

– They are the best friends you mess with the most.

– But I like being with them, like going out with them, says Mokel.

– It’s not just business. Or – for my part it’s business, but they gave me the impression that they think we’re friends.

VG asks Ballinciaga if they can reveal how old they are.

– Big enough to buy alcohol, that’s what we usually say, laughs the man with the dark voice.

– Practical, says Mokel.

– Then I don’t have to call my brother and things like that.

So far, they’ve only released one song together. Sure, with a result that seems to have caused the sequel’s nerves.

– If we do another “collab”, then we want to sit with the feeling that “this is better”, so to speak, says the alleged leader of Ballinciaga.

– And it will take a while longer. Why “Dance on the table” is … OK more.

But is it art?

In August, VG published a case on the many Norwegian pop stars who hide behind the masks one day.

One of them – not Ballinciaga – said there: – We are here for crowns, not for “fame”.

– We started the whole Ballin thing as a Russian concept, a side project. We just wanted to make money with that, admits Chief Ballin.

– And then it became the main project, because it was a lot of fun and it went well.

– How much “art” is there in what you do?

– Art is making music that people can only feel good with when they are at a party, when they are having fun. Maybe that’s how we go in depth with the music. It may not be that sensitive, but the feeling you get from listening to music and getting attached to it – this is the artistic part I love the most. When a song comes out and I just know it will click everyone.

– We make the music we like, the DJ intervenes.

– The best songs we do are the ones we do when we have the most fun.

Ballinciaga does not hesitate to call himself a breath of fresh air. And they believe the band will be a long-term affair.

– Ballin is a universe where music is the number one priority and it works. It’s party and fun, and I don’t think Norwegians will stop partying.

A handful of years ago, it was still something of an event when a Norwegian band or Norwegian artist staged their show at Oslo Spektrum.

In August, Karpe pulverized the last remnants of a stir around it, selling out ten concerts in the capital’s main hall.

However, Ballinciaga disagrees that a Spektrum concert now looks a bit poor in comparison.

– It’s only been a year since our breakthrough, the DJ points out.

The band also reminds us that Karpe has been around for as long as Ballinciaga was alive – and that tonight’s show is the first that Pink has put together on their own.

ANONYMOUS: Ballinciaga will keep the masks in public for the time being.

Nothing was spared, they promise.

– The only reason we’re spending so much on the show now is that audiences should have a great experience.

– I take zero crowns, says Mokel and stretches out his arms. However, his mother received a free ticket.

– Will there be many hits?

Everyone laughs.

– Difficult to Not …!
