No major publisher wants to publish it

——

Donald Trump says he “writes like crazy” in his memoirs.

But none of the major publishers want to publish it, writes Politico.

– Some of the largest piles of slime in the world are owned by the publishers, the former president answers and is sure that they will want the money.

Countless books have been published about Donald Trumps four years in power – and many more are underway.

But so far the ex-president himself has not published his own story. Last week, he stated that he “writes like crazy and when the time is right, everyone will see the book of all books”.

Trump also stated that he has already turned down two offers for a book contract.

Political Politico site has been in contact with the five major American publishers. They all state that they have not offered the former president a book contract – and say they are not interested in doing so in the future.

Nightmare to fact check

– It does not matter what benefits there are with a contract with Trump, the headaches it would entail outweigh for the major publishers, says literature agent Keith Urbahn to Politico.

– A publisher brave enough to take on Trump’s memoirs is facing a nightmare to fact-check the text, an escape of other writers and a revolt among staff if they were to make it unlikely to sign a contract with the former president.

According to a report in the Washington Post from January, Donald Trump made a total of 30,573 false or misleading statements during the four years in the White House.

In a new statement to Politico The ex-president insists that he has received “very lucrative offers from two of the largest and most prestigious publishers, but declined”.

Slime piles without morals

Trump continues:

“It does not mean that I will not accept them in the future, because I have started writing the book. If my book is going to be the biggest of them all, after 39 books written or being written about me, does anyone really think they are too nice to make a lot of money? Some of the largest piles of slime in the world own these publishers “, he writes to the site.

“They have no morals, nothing,” he says.

But several in the publishing world that Politico spoke to are skeptical of the former president’s duties.

– He has deceived so many publishers that even before he became president, none of the big five wanted to work with him any more, says a person in the publishing world to Politico.

Donald Trump’s most famous book “The Art of the Deal” which came out in 1987 cemented his reputation as a successful and ruthless businessman. In retrospect, ghostwriter Tony Schwartz has distanced himself from the book and called it “fiction.”

Many in the Trump gang write

After his time in the White House, the former president has given interviews to a dozen authors who are planning books about him. Several people in his vicinity have signed book contracts with the major publishers. Among them are Adviser Kellyanne Conway, former Press Secretary Sarah Huckerbee Sanders and former Attorney General William Barr.

Former Vice President Mike Pence has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract with Simon & Schuster, which has put both staff and some of the major publishers’ authors on the roof.

Pence’s super contract is also said to have angered Trump, who has had no further relationship with his vice president since some elements of the mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6 raged that they would hang him.

But Donald Trump’s spokesman Jason Miller denies the allegations, saying the former president “has no problem” with Mike Pence’s forthcoming book.
