Japanese games producer Nintendo expects to sell 24 million game consoles this year.

For those wondering what to do in these corona times to pass the time: gaming. At least that is the occupation of many, because the Japanese gaming group Nintendo posted strong figures on Thursday and also increases the outlook.

The group of ‘Super Mario’ and ‘Pokémon’ sold 12.5 million Switch consoles in the first half of its fiscal year. “Switch is also doing very well in October, and we expect a lot from the year-end sales,” said CEO Shuntaro Furukawa. ‘That is why we are increasing the annual forecast to 24 million consoles for the whole of 2020’. That is an increase of 26 percent compared to the previous forecast. Nintendo also raises the profit target by half to 450 billion yen.

does not cause additional competition. Both will hit the market next week. New games like ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ bring new customers to Switch. The existing games around Super Mario or the Pokémons also continue to score well.
